From San Francisco to Madrid, people are celebrating Gay
Pride. Gay men and lesbians are marching through the streets, singing
and rejoicing, while the situation in Iran is only getting worse. Iran
has been accused of flogging, stoning, torturing, imprisonment and even
executing gays found “guilty” of lovemaking.
The economic world has begun responding to this
situation and taking action against it.
The Economic and Social Council of the UN elects
Iran to Commission on Women's Rights handling a four- year seat.
The Commission on the Status of Women is dedicated to
promoting gender equality and women's advancement. Iran's discriminatory
laws and violations against women's rights demonstrate the exact
opposite of what this Commission stands for.
